Margi weaves yoga philosophy and Buddhist principles such as mindfulness and compassion into classes. To counter the stresses of everyday life, she often includes restorative poses for a deeply rejuvenating experience. She is passionate about travel and feels fortunate to teach in Bali with Awakened Life School of Yoga, and other retreats and trainings around the USA, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Europe, Japan and China.
Margi has practiced yoga for over 25 years, and taught since 2000. She was living the life of a dancer and choreographer in New York City after finishing an MFA at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, when she realized her true calling was sharing her passion for yoga.
Her first formative 10 years of teaching were at Cyndi Lee’s prestigious OM Yoga Center in New York City. Along with teaching classes, she was an original member of the teacher training faculty and Director of the Restorative Department at OM. Margi’s dynamic vinyasa classes have a strong emphasis on alignment as she was an avid student of Iyengar yoga for many years.
Margi currently teaches and lives in Oakland, California, with her husband and son. When not teaching or practicing, she enjoys shopping at farmers’ markets and cooking what she brings home, biking around town, chatting with friends, trying to understand the complicated world, and laying low with her partner and nine-year old son.
